Agahi collaborates with Department of Defence & Strategic Studies Quaid-e-Azam University on Foresight Research

Monday 12 October 2015, Islamabad: AGAHI is creating a network of institutional and individual relationship in the country that will facilitate and conduct futures research in support for the Pakistan Foresight Initiative. In collaboration with the Department of Defence & Strategic Studies, Quaid-e-Azam University; AGAHI signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a programme developed to produce knowledge faculties on futures thinking. In its pilot phase, the academic partnership with the department aims at creating quality research work through Dr. Inayatullah Fellowship Programme on ‘Peace and Technology’.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Aliya H. Khan Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Quaid-e-Azam University, Mr. Jamil Raza Head of Department of Defence & Strategic Studies, Puruesh Chaudhary Founder and President AGAHI. QAU faculty members and AGAHI team were also present at the ceremony at University’s Social Science’s campus. Dr. Aliya Khan said that there’s an urgent need for involving academicians in various state level policy formulation and policy implementation exercises . This nexus has assumed increased importance in the context of pursuing sustainable development goals. Puruesh Chaudhary added, Industry-academia linkages are one of the most crucial components for a knowledge-based community. This relationship between AGAHI and DSS-QAU will work towards bridging this gap and also focus on providing opportunity for the students to contribute towards foresight research. Mr. Jamil Raza also shared his thoughts, the department is looking forward to give its students a better platform through AGAHI where they can work on their research capabilities.

AGAHI is a not for profit organization established in Islamabad in 2011 under the Society Registration Act 1860.Its primary function is to create non-paid communication strategies, content intelligence structures, development collaterals and tools for diverse sectors and organizations. AGAHI encourages and advises individuals and institutions in pursuing and supporting initiatives to improve the state of development in Pakistan. It works on developmental frameworks facilitating information and knowledge sharing platforms on understanding challenges in global perspective. AGAHI’s foresight research work mainly focuses on national and international security, ICT, competitiveness, human capital development, and governance.
